Barriers to naturalization: How dual citizenship restrictions impede full membership

Dual citizenship restrictions are widely recognized as one of the major barriers for immigrant naturalization. Yet, we know surprisingly little about what drives migrants’ concerns trading off their former a new one. This paper aims at closing this gap by analysing interrelation between dual policies and naturalization outcomes on basis original survey data from Germany. I examine how well subjectively perceived concerning acceptance belonging regarding change drive immigrants’ decisions. Using cluster-robust logistic regression models clustered origin country, find that requirement giving up one's impedes decisions also relevant long-term exclusion full membership in destination country.
